Superior Dairy was established in 1922 by F. Judson Bowden as a milk dairy business serving Hanford families. The business expanded in 1929 to include an ice cream parlor, becoming a beloved destination where generations of Hanford residents marked childhood memories, summer days, and family occasions. Operated continuously by the Bowden family for over nine decades, Superior Dairy became one of the city's most enduring and cherished small businesses.

The dairy was featured prominently in the Hanford Sentinel's 'Kings County in 50 Objects' series, which recognized it as one of the fifty historically significant landmarks representing the region's character and heritage. Through decades of change in retail, neighborhood shopping, and business cycles, Superior Dairy remained a family operation that served Hanford with consistency and community ties.

The neighborhood businesses like Superior Dairy thrive on the stability of the families around them. When a family's income is the foundation that allows them to spend a Friday evening at an ice cream parlor, term life insurance protects that foundation so the business, the neighborhood, and the family traditions can all continue forward together.
